"Conceptual understandings form the 'coat hangers' on which we interpret and assimilate new ideas, and relate and extend them."John Hattie, Visible Learning for Teachers (2012)

This is exactly why I do what I do.

We are preparing students for a tomorrow we cannot fully see — a world of shifting careers, complex problems, and information overload. Factual knowledge alone will not carry them there. What will carry them is the ability to transfer — to take what they understood deeply in one context and apply it wisely in another. That is the promise of concept-based learning, and it is the belief that drives every workshop I design, every curriculum I build, and every conversation I have with educators.

Who I am

I am Tannu Jain — a Concept-Based Learning Specialist, Curriculum Developer, and Thought Partner for educators navigating the shift from content coverage to conceptual clarity.

With over 12 years as an IB PYP Homeroom Teacher and a certified Independent Erickson & Lanning Concept-Based Trainer, I bring both the classroom reality and the curricular depth needed to make this work feel doable — not just desirable. I currently serve as a Trainer with the TIPS Learning and Research Institute (TLRI), where I design and facilitate professional development for educators across and beyond the TIPS community. Over the past year, I have led global training sessions helping teachers move from surface delivery toward the kind of teaching that builds transferable understanding.

I am also a Certified Digital Instructional Designer, which means I can meet schools where they are — blending innovative technology-driven strategies with the pedagogical depth that concept-based learning demands.

What I offer

I am not here to add another framework to your plate. I am here to help you make sense of the ones you already have — and redesign your curriculum, your units, and your professional practice from the inside out.

Whether through workshops, instructional design, or collaborative curriculum development, I help schools build what I believe matters most: a sustainable culture of deep, transferable, future-ready learning.

I also created the course "Reimagine Curriculum through a Concept-Based Approach" — a practical, inquiry-driven guide for educators ready to move from knowing about concept-based learning to actually living it in their classrooms.

Let's think together. If you are an educator, curriculum leader, or school looking for a thought partner — someone who can sit with you, ask the right questions, and help you build something that genuinely lasts — I would love to connect.
